SOLSC 3/22/14 - Celebrating


Our plans had been made since December for this weekend.  We enjoy watching "Sing Off" which is an a cappella music competition that only last for four weeks.  At the finale, they mentioned that there would be a tour with these groups.  We found out that they would be performing in Kansas City, which is a mere 5 hours from home.  Our friends, C & J, wanted to go also, so we ordered tickets, made reservations and finally the weekend has come.

Yesterday was our wedding anniversary, so we planned to celebrate for the whole weekend.  We started out yesterday, stopped at the Truman Farm Home in Grandville, MO and then on to Independence.  Unfortunately, it was too late in the afternoon to take a tour of the Truman Home, but we did see a video telling about Harry & Bess.  I'm going to have to read up on President Truman.   Our friends and us enjoy American History, so this may be a place that we will need to investigate at a later date.

We found our hotel in downtown KC and went out for a wonderful (too much food) dinner.  Hubby and I both got our lobster and enjoyed our celebration.

Today we'll be taking in downtown KC.  There's a lot to see and do.  Then tonight is to concert.  Of course, we'll have to find a good rib place since we're in KC.  Then the concert tonight.

    Sounds like a great way to celebrate your anniversary weekend! Maybe you will be serenaded a cappella style with "happy anniversary"! Enjoy!

    What a great way to celebrate your anniversary! I love The Sing-Off too, that should be a fun time for all. Enjoy those ribs!

    Sounds wonderful Judy-you're there now! I'm from KC, so someday you will have to return to the Truman Library-it's awesome. And the art museum there is also wonderful. Hope you have a lovely time. Best barbecue in our mouths always was Arthur Bryant's-not fancy, but yummy. Hope it's a lovely trip all the way through.

      Yes, Linda, we're putting Independence/KC on to do list. I'll let you know in tomorrow's slice what we did and where we ate.

SOL 18/31 - The Realtor's Came Yesterday

Yesterday, the realtor's came to look at our house.  Our realtor only brings his own people thru, so it wasn't too bad.  Max slept thru most of it until they went upstairs where he was sleeping.  He barked briefly, came downstairs, got petted and pampered a little.  They walked thru the house, in the bedroom, up the stairs, down the stairs, looked things over, asked a few questions and 15 minutes later out the door they went. Our realtor told me he has had a couple of calls - one from a neighbor (being nosy) and another from a realtor who said this house is exactly what his clients are looking for, but they had just left the day before it was listed.  But could they put in an offer sight unseen?  Really???  Is this just a realtor's ploy to make us feel good or is it real?  No offer yet, but who knows.  It could happen. Tuesday SOL 10/23/12 - Mr. Pockets goes to school

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper that I found fascinating and wanted to share it with you.  This is a story about a dog who listens as children read out loud.  It's a new program in our school district and I'm proud that our district is using this innovative program to help students learn. Animals are so loving, caring and accepting, and the students love to have someone that they can read to and to be loved unconditionally. Tuesday SOL - 9/25/12 - A New Beginning for a Special Couple

Several weeks ago we were invited to a wedding for two very dear friends.  What a special occasion it was!  This is the second marriage for both of them and they are in their early 70's.  But, before telling you about the wedding, you need to know "the rest of the story". Jeannie's husband died about 10 years ago from heart related problems.  Several years after his death, she was involved in a terrible automobile accident and was never expected to walk again.  But through sheer determination (and the help of God) she walks without the aid of crutches.  At this point she really didn't have God in her life and I'm not sure at what point she found God (or more than likely, God found her).  She always asked God to find her that special man who had faith, was kind, had a great sense of humor and who loved her.
