Tuesday SOL 6/14/16 - Grandma's School
The girls completed Kindergarten on Thursday and Momma still had four days left of school, so Grandma headed north to stay with the girls (a real hardship - NOT). What a fun time we had!
Since they will be in school full time this fall, they decided we could play school for the day and get prepared. So Mrs. Graham Cracker (one of the nicknames for me) had two students - they named themselves Penelope and Faith and I would be Mrs. G or Mrs. Granny or just plan Grandma.
We started off with a filling pancake breakfast and I learned all about them. Then we headed to the classroom. Since they had unpacked their desks from the move, that was a great starting point. Miss Faith was very diligent in putting everything in its proper place. She picked up each item and pondered it and then put it in the correct drawer. The crayons were in their own box and neatly placed in the back of the drawer.
Now, Miss Penelope was quite different. She opened the box, opened the drawer and not quite so carefully dumped everything in and promptly closed the drawer to go on to the next. She was finished and ready to move on.
We moved to the table and they shared their Show & Tell from their previous day of shopping. They did a fine job explaining every item and telling what it would be used for and why they purchased it.
The alphabet worksheets were next on the agenda and they worked rapidly thru several letters.
Time for a snack and some craft work. Then we headed out on a field trip to the local Walgreen's to get some milk for lunch. We reviewed our letters and spotted everything they could possible find. We came home and made banana bread and did some cleaning.
And so our days went. We learned new crafts, played outside, met some new friends at the park and just had fun.
I enjoyed my small class of just two (I don't know how y'all do it with so many kids). And, I think they enjoyed their Grandma School too.

Creating those memories for both you and the girls, simply priceless! In a few weeks I will get my chance to babysit for a bit in CA. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteMiss Penelope unpacks the way I do. What a great time you and your granddaughters had. Sounds like school was lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteTwins! Two unique little people to have grandma fun with! You are blessed.
ReplyDeleteI love when you share the joy of your adventures with these two sweeties!
ReplyDeleteBrings a smile to my face. What fun, including snacks and a field trip. How lucky the girls were to have Granny School. How lucky you were to have and create this experience.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for Grandma School! The girls were entertained "playing" along -- a learned so much too! Thanks for being here for the girls as I finished out my school year. Such a blessing to us all! Love you, Mom!
