Tuesday SOL 6/12/18 - Time with "Our Girls"

I had figured out what I planned to slice about today and then I read  Michelle's Slice .  Apparently "great mother/daughter minds" think alike.

The girls got out of school on the 30th and Momma had to work until the 4th, so we got to spend some quality time with "our girls".  We no more than got to their house and both girls said, "let's play school.  You and Grandpa will be the students."  They had been "gifted" some decorations from their teachers and had set up their playroom to become their school.  See Michelle's pics from her slice.

M was the teacher for the day and we reviewed what we would be doing, who was assigned to which duty, and so on.  The first thing we started was language.  M drew her chart on the chalk board and proceeded to quiz us on different sounds.  Of course, while her back was turned to "her students", one of them started making faces - can you guess who?  Grandpa had P and me giggling and laughing, much to M's chagrin.  But she persevered and continued with her lesson plans.

Next came Art.  We had to line up and follow the teacher into the other room, around several tables and finally back to our desks.  But, she made us wait quite awhile before we started, so P and I started to dance in place.  We got quite the reprimand!  This time, Grandpa was innocent (ha!).

M had pulled out the beads and string and said we could made whatever we wanted.  Grandpa made a necklace and P instructed me on creating a lizard.

We had snacks and then went to the park for a field trip.

After lunch, Grandma treated the girls to a mani/pedi.  You know, teachers deserve a break too!

The next day was P's turn as teacher and she followed the same format - what fun we had.

They love school, they are excellent readers and are very excited to continue learning even if they are on summer break.

  1. I guess there is one student in every class that acts up when the teacher's back is turned. :-) What a fun time you all had.

  2. What fun being the student! I love the reward for being a teacher. Who knows what this may turn into someday.

  3. I linked your slice back to mine as well ... I love hearing the inside scoop about a day at school. It's funny what they "bring" to their school and what they know and understand about school. Happy to hear that you had the chance in art to create whatever you wanted and that P got to be the expert in teaching you how to make the bead lizard! That's what we want to see in today's school! As for Grandpa ... innocent? I think, maybe he just didn't get caught! Ha! Thanks for sharing, Mom!

  4. What a wonderful time you had with the girls. Setting up a school at home speaks of love for learning. I think it was great that you and grandpa got to be the students. You are never too old to learn.
