I had figured out what I planned to slice about today and then I read  Michelle's Slice .  Apparently "great mother/daughter minds" think alike. The girls got out of school on the 30th and Momma had to work until the 4th, so we got to spend some quality time with "our girls".  We no more than got to their house and both girls said, "let's play school.  You and Grandpa will be the students."  They had been "gifted" some decorations from their teachers and had set up their playroom to become their school.  See Michelle's pics from her slice. M was the teacher for the day and we reviewed what we would be doing, who was assigned to which duty, and so on.  The first thing we started was language.  M drew her chart on the chalk board and proceeded to quiz us on different sounds.  Of course, while her back was turned to "her students", one of them started making faces - can you guess who?  Grandpa had P and me giggling and lau...

Michelle called at the end of January checking to see if we would be home over President's Day weekend.  My reply was yes and why? Well, since they had Friday and Monday off, would we like to have some company.  My reply - an Outstanding YES! So last Friday they arose early (4:00 a.m. ish) and arrived at our home around 2:30 p.m. for a fun filled, fast paced (for us), slow paced (for them) weekend. The girls were ready to be out of the car and do SOMETHING.  We were having friends over for dinner to celebrate Grandma Carol's birthday.  She has become a surrogate grandma to the girls since she has no grandkids of her own.  The girls got busy in my craft room making her cards.  They loved checking out all of my cards and gadgets and proceeded to try their hands at using an embosser and stamps galore.  So many to choose from.  They finished their master pieces and couldn't wait from Grandma Carol to show up.  She, of course, was delighte...

So many pictures over a short six years.   Which ones to choose?   So many of them together.  So few alone.   Some with Mommy,  Some with Daddy.   Grandma, Grandpa, Nana & Papa Some with smiles.   Some with frowns.   Walking, running, riding, reading.   Fun times,   Birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas.   Visits to Arkansas.   Vacations to Florida First Day of Preschool First Day of Kindergarten Flower girls Swimmers Ballarinas Tap dancers Then to add some journaling for when they look back at their childhood years. The girls completed Kindergarten on Thursday and Momma still had four days left of school, so Grandma headed north to stay with the girls (a real hardship - NOT).  What a fun time we had! Since they will be in school full time this fall, they decided we could play school for the day and get prepared.  So Mrs. Graham Cracker (one of the nicknames for me) had two students - they named themselves Penelope and Faith and I would be Mrs. G or Mrs. Granny or just plan Grandma. We started off with a filling pancake breakfast and I learned all about them.  Then we headed to the classroom.  Since they had unpacked their desks from the move, that was a great starting point.  Miss Faith was very diligent in putting everything in its proper place.  She picked up each item and pondered it and then put it in the correct drawer.  The crayons were in their own box and neatly placed in the back of the drawer. Fifteen years ago when I retired from Elgin Sweeper, I was presented with a "M & M pillow".  It had arms and legs, eyelashes and weighed in at about 5 pounds.  Everyone from Sweeper autographed it and it has been a wonderful memory of a great place to work with some fantastic people.  It had found a place on the loft and I didn't pay a lot of attention to it until... Last summer when Michelle & the girls were visiting.  M discovered the "M & M guy" one day and had to bring it downstairs.  It was almost bigger than her.  Of course, since there was only ONE "M & M guy", there were battles, so "M & M" had to be put up.  Problem solved.... After they left, I thought it was time to dismantle the "M & M guy" and just keep the shell - you know trying to downsize.  This is what she looked like dismantled. Occasionally last fall, M & P (especially M) would ask where the "M & M guy" was. ...
