Earlier this spring we began our wood wall project in the dining area.  That was completed, but now we've added cabinets and some wall decorations.  Yesterday we got the final piece - the granite counter top finished it off. There will probably be some additions to the wall hangings.  I need to get a feel for what it needs, but for now I'm enjoying it. The final change was made yesterday to our French door going out to the patio.  With the door swinging inward, it was always in the way and there was no screen on it.  So, we replaced it with a sliding glass door.  What a difference it has made.  The French door didn't let in much light, but now it seems like the whole backyard is an extension of the house. I think (at least as of now) this will be our last large project on our home.  We've been here almost a year and feel completed at home and enjoying every moment of it.

Scott & Jen planned a trip to AR to celebrate Hubby's birthday.  Since I was in IL, I got to ride down with them and not have to worry about driving by myself. Our long weekend with them started on Thursday night when Hubby & Scott went to the gun club to shoot a round of Five Stand.  Scott, being out of practice, didn't fare too good, but they had fun.  Then Friday we decided to head to the Buffalo River and float for 2-1/2 hours in canoes.  Jen had never been canoeing and she was fearful that Scott would tip over the canoe.  The Buffalo is a beautiful river and we really didn't need to paddle, as the current was running rather swiftly.  I spotted many fish and hubby was upset that he didn't bring his pole.  The sun was hot, but it was cool on the river.  A delightful afternoon. The girls completed Kindergarten on Thursday and Momma still had four days left of school, so Grandma headed north to stay with the girls (a real hardship - NOT).  What a fun time we had! Since they will be in school full time this fall, they decided we could play school for the day and get prepared.  So Mrs. Graham Cracker (one of the nicknames for me) had two students - they named themselves Penelope and Faith and I would be Mrs. G or Mrs. Granny or just plan Grandma. We started off with a filling pancake breakfast and I learned all about them.  Then we headed to the classroom.  Since they had unpacked their desks from the move, that was a great starting point.  Miss Faith was very diligent in putting everything in its proper place.  She picked up each item and pondered it and then put it in the correct drawer.  The crayons were in their own box and neatly placed in the back of the drawer.
