Last week we had a day of spring-like temperatures and enjoyed having the windows open, hearing the birds chirping and getting the staleness out of the house. After a day of spring, summer hit full force.  The temps have soared into the high 80's and as usual in Arkansas, the humidity has started to climb, and the oaks are shedding their green dust.  The spring flowers have dropped their blossoms.  We went from open windows to air conditioning. While it seemed we waited forever for winter to be done and for spring to appear, it happened so quickly and now another season has appeared. We planted some shrubs and annuals this week and now we water and pray that they will take hold in the heat.  Hopefully we'll get some rain to aid in their growth. It's been a crazy year of weather so far, but I guess no matter what Mother Nature throws at us, we'll survive and persevere.  It give us something to complain about. .

Spring That time of the year that is so special A time of awakening and rebirth A time to feel the warmth of sunshine on my face A time to hear the birds twitter A time to dig in the soil A time to plant A time to watch the buds turn into flowers A time to watch the trees form their leaves and turn green A time to shed the heavy winter clothes A time to smell the rain A time to be cautious of storms A time to be thankful for God's gifts Can Spring really be here at the beginning of March? Or is this just a trick of nature? Today, I'm filled with JOY because we have a beautiful Spring day to enjoy!

I wrote about the coming of spring last week, but today I needed to share more. As Max and I stepped outside The birds were singing happy songs The smell of rain was still in the air The Bradford Pear trees are blooming Lined up stately on our neighbors drive The grass is turning green With a tinge of purple (some weed with beautiful purple flowers) Spreading itself across the lawns Our first spring in our new house Waiting to see what else spring will bring us.

While we have enjoyed an awesome winter here in the Ozarks - a little snow, a tad of ice and sleet, lots of sunshine and warmer temps from November thru February, I'm still looking forward to spring. And now, March has arrived - it came in like a lamb and seems to want to continue being mild. As I sat out on the front porch yesterday, I looked over the pond and could see a green tinge on the weeping willows.  The wild daffodils are in full bloom.  Batches of crocuses are sticking their heads thru.  We cut down the Pampas Grass only to find a bunch of Naked Ladies poking their foliage out of the ground. Could it be, is it really here?  The forecasters are predicting some 70 degree days for the weekend.  I'm lovin' it.  Spring is my favorite season - a new beginning - a renewal of life.

Max was fed, the pill boxes filled, the dishes done.  Time for a walk.  The sun was coming thru the clouds and then bright in the sky.  The temp was 65 - balmy and humid.  A great day for a spring walk and some picture taking. Max did his duty, smelled for some different scents, pulled, stopped, and pulled some more - unfortunately the wrong way for me - he wanted to go home.  He didn't like my stopping to take pictures.  He didn't want to walk.  He's getting old and set in his ways.  He knows when he wanted to turn around. So back home we came, but there were a few pictures to share.  Spring is here.   The birds are singing.  The redbuds are brilliant.   The dogwoods are producing some beautiful flowers.   The grass is turning green.   The oaks are sprouting leaves and soon will be spreading the yellowish-green dust that will powder every surface.   But Spring has a ar...

Saturday was such a beautiful day that I took an extra walk (without Max) just to take in all the beauty that God is blessing us with after a long, cold, snowy, icy winter. The dandelions have already sprouted their bright yellow flowers in abundance.   The daffodils are being watched by the "Gone Fishing" bear. The redbuds have just a tinge of purple. The dogwoods seem to be getting bigger by the minute. The violets have pushed through the leaves. The leaves are just beginning as buds on the tree limbs. Our neighbor's horse had to see what I was doing. Some of the bushes even sprouted Easter eggs. See if you can spot all of them in the collage.  The rain yesterday and partial sun today will help to green the grass (and weeds) and make the colors even more brilliant.   I can see God's beauty coming through the new beginnings of Spring and embracing every moment.

Yesterday, Lynn, was imaging the signs of spring and warm weather.  We've had a couple of warm and sunny days and today rain.  And today, I actually saw those signs that she was imagining. As we were driving home from church, I spotted: Forsythia bushes blooming Wild daffodils in full blossom arranged here and there  across the fields and ditches A wild plum tree was completely covered in white Little buds on the the dogwoods My butterfly bush with green leaves Even the grass (and weeds) have started turning green Springs coming!  Springs coming!  Springs coming!
