Where have the years gone? They seem to pass by so quickly and yet it seems like only yesterday that ... I graduated from high school,               now we're celebrating 50 years I started in the work force ,               now I've been retired for two years We got married,               now it's 46 years ago We raised our son and daughter,               now they're both in their 40's My nieces were born ,                  now they have children in college, graduating high school,  and 8th grade Our twin granddaughters were born,                 soon they will be 6 ...

Yesterday was the 7th week of our After-school Mentoring Program for 8th & 9th graders.  I wrote about this program earlier this year New Mentoring Program  It's been a great experience (although challenging) for us "older" volunteers who haven't been around teenagers for a while.  The first couple of weeks were hit and miss, but the kids kept coming back.  We started out with 8 kids the first night and have continued to have between 6 - 10 kids each week.  While the coordinators had anticipated more, we feel that God has blessed us with "just the right number".   Start slow and learn from our mishaps and unknowns.  Most of the kids started out needing help with math - ALGEBRA.  Well, that's not in my vocabulary.  Fortunately we do have some who are knowledgeable in that area.  They also needed help with Civics, Science and Literature.  But, the most important thing they need is acceptance - someone to listen to them ...

Sometimes I wonder where time goes.  What do I accomplish each day?  Do I do something construction or is it nonsensical stuff?  So to review my Saturday: Devotions and prayers Checking e-mails and posting my slice Commenting on other slices Reading/finishing a book Calling my aunt and another friend Doing laundry Playing Scrabble and Words with Friends Taking a walk with Max Going to a jewelry party Balancing my checkbook Playing some games on my Kindle Working on a cross stitch project Taking a nap Enjoying the warmth and sunshine So the answer to my question - some constructive and some nonsensical - the best of everything - at least for this day.

Wind  Gentle breeze Blowing from the north Puffing from the south Gusting Howling No wind at all It speaks to me Telling me To come out and enjoy the coolness on a warm day Telling me To bundle up it's cold Telling me   It's warming up Telling me To batten down the hatches Telling me A storm is brewing Telling me   All is calm
