Tuesday SOL 4/26/16 - Where have the years gone?
Where have the years gone?
They seem to pass by so quickly and yet
it seems like only yesterday that ...
I graduated from high school,
now we're celebrating 50 years
I started in the work force,
now I've been retired for two years
We got married,
now it's 46 years ago
We raised our son and daughter,
now they're both in their 40's
My nieces were born,
now they have children in college, graduating high school, and 8th grade
Our twin granddaughters were born,
soon they will be 6 years old
We adopted Max into our family,
now he is 15 human years old (older than dirt in dog years)
That we moved to Arkansas and built our log home,
now that house is sold
That we moved to our new home,
it will soon be a year
That I started writing SOL's,
this is now my 5th year
As I look back on those past years, I think of all that I've accomplished, the places I've visited, the things that I learned, the people that have come into and out of my life, the moments that I cherish and others I choose to forget, the blessings I receive daily,
Now I look forward to the years that are in front of me, to enjoy all the blessings that God gives me daily.

Judy, you have certainly accomplished much in your lifetime. Here's hoping that the years ahead bring many more exciting and wonderful accomplishments for you.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading a kid's book about "slow" that shares that older people estimate time going more quickly while children think it's going too slowly. It does zip to me, too, Judy, but I love your list that encompasses so many happy times.
ReplyDeleteYour thought trail shows a rich life. I asked the same question today. The number of years I am thinking is different. My oldest turned 21 today. Wasn't I just 21 yesterday?
ReplyDeleteTime is a funny thing. When we are kids, we think we will never get out of that stage of life, but then in a blink we have zipped through a busy life. I love the then and now structure you used.
