Very good read. Evans' writing transformed the characters into real life people that you loved and wanted to comfort and those you disliked immediately. It was a book that began with childhood difficulties and continued into adulthood. There were many twists to his plot, some expected and others totally unforeseen. His characters had many close kept secrets that came out in the end. My favorite character was Tom because at least at the beginning he was innocent and in need of much love and caring. He had a lot to live with all his life and his ability to share that with his son at the end was what freed him of the past.
