SOL #4 – 3/4/12 What’s Your Dream Vacation?
Going to the beach
Fishing at the lake
Cruising
Going to an exotic island
Touring a foreign country
Visiting Family
I love to travel. I’ve seen many sights, toured many cities, taken several cruises, and traveled overseas (haven’t found the exotic island yet). And, of course, visit family (my precious twin granddaughters & kids, too). We live near a lake, but don’t seem to take advantage of it as often as we’d like. I'd like to travel more - Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Costa Rica, the East Coast, the West Coast and every state in between and then there's Europe and Asia. Oh, the dreams go on and on. Some day - maybe not physically, but thru my reading adventures - I'll get to see all of these places.
But what I enjoy most about vacations is coming HOME. I can relax here, sit on the front porch or back deck, listen to the birds, watch the squirrels and deer, sip a glass of wine, read a book, take a nap – the list is endless. Who needs an exotic island when I already live in Paradise ?

I love to travel, too! I have found that the more I travel, the more I appreciate home, the place where I can relax and be myself. I really enjoy the day after a vacation. I get to unpack, put away my new memories, and enjoy my home once again. Thanks for sharing your slice!
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile. Isn't it the truth? As much as we love to travel and 'see the world' the best part is coming home. I love how you mentioned that you may not get to many places except through your reading adventures! My favorite is your last line! I only wish your paradise was closer to me! :)
ReplyDeleteThe best vacation is one where I am not responsible for the consumption of food. I want choice for dining that I have not prepared. I love to travel, but home is great too.
ReplyDeleteJudy - I noticed that you are keeping a travelogue of where you've visited through your reading. It's definitely cheaper and has less packing!

Judy,
ReplyDeleteTravel is great in any shape or form . . . a great escape! How wonderful you have that right outside your door!
Yes the comforts of home are much appreciated after a trip, especially a long one.
ReplyDeleteI love to travel, too. I love the escape from the typical day-to-day pressures, the immersion in a new culture, the new learning, and of course the relaxation that a trip brings. (and the food! I love to eat out & try new things) but, I agree, each of these things makes me appreciate home even more.
