SOL #6 – 3/6/12 Our Walk – written by Max

Hi, I’m Max and I belong to Judy.  I’m part Cocker Spaniel and something else.  I’m 11 years old and I like to take my Mom on walks.

Usually we always turn to the right out of the driveway, but not today.  Mom said, “Let’s go to the left”.  And I thought, oh goody, goody, some new smells and new places to – oh you know.

So down the hill we went.  I had to stop quite often – just to smell and Mom would keep saying “Come on, let’s keep moving”.  When we go to the left, we can go two ways – one thru the resort or the other down a big hill that leads  to the lake.  We went down the big hill.  Mom keeps telling me not to pull because the gravel is lose and she doesn’t want to slide down the hill.  So, I try to go slowly – that way I can smell lots and lots.  Down, down we go to the first flat area.  We stop and look at the lake.  I turn around to see if we can keep going down – boy would I love to jump in the lake, but Mom says that it too cold for the lake and we need to head back up the hill.

We have to stop a lot more often going up the hill (and not for me!).  But that’s okay because now I can really stop and smell the roses (well, I don’t really know what they’re called, but I can leave my scent too!).  Finally we get to the top of the hill, but we still have a ways to go to get home.  Mom lets me off the leash and I can run the rest of the way home, only to wait at the door til Mom catches up.  Breakfast is ready and waiting.  Now, for a nap.  Thanks for the walk Mom.  Let’s do it again tomorrow – which way will be go?

  1. I'm so glad that you allowed Max to write! I think Max and Chloe (Deb's dog) would make good pals! Looks like a beautiful day in the Ozarks . . . but that picture of the hill doesn't quite do it justice! It is steep!

Thanks for sharing a slice from a different perspective!

  2. At our house we often speculate about what our cocker spaniel is saying or thinking. I love the new perspective. Thanks for writing.
