I had seen this book title on Michelle's blog and read some of the reviews.  I don't usually read YA books, but Michelle said it was really good.  I agree - it was well written about a subject that is very prominent today.  While Auggie is an extreme example of a child being bullied, looked down upon, and shunned - all because of a facial deformity.  Intellectually, he was very smart and aware of not only his feelings, but those around him.  His family was very caring and loving and made him feel like a normal child.  It had some funny moment and others that made me cry.  A good read.

    Don't you think everyone should read this book? Amazing! I think I may have to go back and reread this one this summer. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

SOL 18/31 - The Realtor's Came Yesterday

Yesterday, the realtor's came to look at our house.  Our realtor only brings his own people thru, so it wasn't too bad.  Max slept thru most of it until they went upstairs where he was sleeping.  He barked briefly, came downstairs, got petted and pampered a little.  They walked thru the house, in the bedroom, up the stairs, down the stairs, looked things over, asked a few questions and 15 minutes later out the door they went. Our realtor told me he has had a couple of calls - one from a neighbor (being nosy) and another from a realtor who said this house is exactly what his clients are looking for, but they had just left the day before it was listed.  But could they put in an offer sight unseen?  Really???  Is this just a realtor's ploy to make us feel good or is it real?  No offer yet, but who knows.  It could happen. Tuesday SOL 10/23/12 - Mr. Pockets goes to school

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper that I found fascinating and wanted to share it with you.  This is a story about a dog who listens as children read out loud.  It's a new program in our school district and I'm proud that our district is using this innovative program to help students learn. Animals are so loving, caring and accepting, and the students love to have someone that they can read to and to be loved unconditionally.
