Tuesday SOL - 9/25/12 - A New Beginning for a Special Couple

Several weeks ago we were invited to a wedding for two very dear friends.  What a special occasion it was!  This is the second marriage for both of them and they are in their early 70's.  But, before telling you about the wedding, you need to know "the rest of the story".

Jeannie's husband died about 10 years ago from heart related problems.  Several years after his death, she was involved in a terrible automobile accident and was never expected to walk again.  But through sheer determination (and the help of God) she walks without the aid of crutches.  At this point she really didn't have God in her life and I'm not sure at what point she found God (or more than likely, God found her).  She always asked God to find her that special man who had faith, was kind, had a great sense of humor and who loved her.

Along came Richard.  His wife died about 5 years ago, also to heart related problems.  They "knew" each other through church, Bible studies and Stephen Ministry for several years, but they didn't connect until  a little over year ago.  We were at a concert one evening and met the two of them there (with silly grins on their faces).  A couple of days later, Jeannie pulls me aside to tell me that "they aren't actually dating, just going out as friends".  A few weeks later Jeannie calls to tell me that "they are dating" and she is as giddy as a teenager.  It didn't take long and they were definitely an "item".

Last Thanksgiving, she met his kids and her son was coming down for a visit.  Things progressed rapidly after that and they were engaged.  The planning started and quickly September 8th rolled around - the day had come.  It was a beautiful service, a beautiful bride and handsome groom, they released the doves, and a fantastic reception was held afterwards.  Jeannie & Richard were (and continue) floating on Cloud 9.

God couldn't have chosen two more deserving  people to be joined together to love and enjoy for the rest of their lives together.  The smiles on their faces tell it all.

Sunday, they were back from their honeymoon and were in church.  Pastor asked if there were any new visitors and Jeannie raised her hand.  Pastor laughed and Jeannie said, "This is the first time I've been to church as Mrs. Jeannie Aumann!".

We couldn't be happier for Jeannie & Richard - they are two special people and we pray that they will have many happy years together.
