Tuesday SOL 11/13/12 - Giving Thanks

As we approach this Thanksgiving Day, I (like many of you) have given much thought to all that I'm thankful for.  I'd like to share my first thirteen with you today.

1.  For my God, my Savior and Friend
2.  For family, especially a loving and caring husband, our son and his fiance, our daughter, her husband and our twin granddaughters.
3.  For my many friends, especially my best girlfriend.
4.  For freedom - how blessed we are that we can speak, write and share our thoughts.
5.  For our military personnel - those who are currently serving and those who have fought in wars and in times of peace and who have dedicated themselves to our country so that we can continue to have freedom.
6.  For good health
7.  For our ministers, teachers and educators who share their knowledge with each of us, especially our children to help them learn and grow.
8.  For all of the animals (or at least most of them), for our pets who accept us unconditionally.
9.  For the sunrise and sunset, the clear sky and clouds, for the sun, moon and stars.
10.  For the changing of seasons - spring brings renewal, summer brings continued growth, fall is a time to reap, and winter a time to rest and replenish.
11.  For music - words of praise, four part harmony, a cappella, instruments.  The ability to sing and play.
12.  For the faith that my parents instilled in me and that I continue to share with others.
13.  For books to read, learn, enjoy, absorb, share....

How often do I take these things for granted. ignore them, expect them to be near - at the touch of a hand?  By writing them down, sharing them with you, I will become more aware and hold them dear to me, thanking God for each one of them.

  1. Ah, to be intentional about your thinking and then to write it down to share. It's an awesome list that at times can be ignored or taken for granted, as you mentioned, 'expecting them to be near - at the touch of a hand'. A life so full, so continue to enjoy and savor!

  2. You are so right that we take our blessings for granted. Writing them down does make us slow down and be intentional. Thanks for the reminder.

  3. What a gorgeous list. From the thanks you have for our military service members to the gratitude you have for the rising and setting sun. Gorgeous list. Very poetic!

  4. I could take so many items from your list and put them into mine! A couple of my fellow teachers have been ill; so I am very thankful for health today!

  5. Truly, we have so much to be thankful and grateful for, appreciative of, pleased by, satisfied and contented with. A beautiful list!

  6. Thank you Judy for reminding us to sit still at least a little while, & savor our blessings. This is quite a beautiful list, & gives me a glimpse of who you are too, someone special!

  8. How right you are Judy when you say we sometimes take for granted all the good that is in our lives...and in a flash "it" can be gone. Writing and sharing does make us more aware...more thankful...thanks for sharing!
