Day 30 of 31 SOLSC - First ever overnight sleepover

At the beginning of the week, we had talked about a sleepover at Uncle Scotty & Aunt Jen's house.  As the week progressed, we continued to talk to the girls about it and they were excited.  The day came, we went to the library and came home, hoping they would take a short nap.  It was not a fun afternoon and Mommy threatened that there would be no sleepover if they didn't behave.  There were tears, Mommy was stressed, Grandma was at a loss of what to do to help.

But, after a walk to the park and some more talk, it was decided the sleepover was a GO.  We gathered all of the paraphernalia - clothes, potty seat, pack 'n plays, etc. - no toys required - Aunt Jen had that covered.

We arrived bringing dinner and all the necessities.  The girls were enthralled with the trains and tracks, the dolls and books, Mickey & Minnie ....  We ate and talked.  Then Mommy & Daddy left.  The girls gave hugs and kisses and said "See you later".  They quickly went back to setting up the train tracks and getting Rockie's (the cat) toys.  We told them bedtime in 15 minutes and they played up to the last second.  Teeth brushed, potty, pj's, hugs and kisses, prayers and off to bed.  The girls asked "Where are we sleeping?"  We told them in Grandma & Grandpa's room upstairs.

Up we went, sang a couple of songs, rubbed their backs, tucked them in and said good night after more hugs and kisses.  I stood at the bottom of the stairs - quiet (at first) and then they started chattering - "there's a vacuum over there",  "Look a rocking chair" - they spotted everything possible in the room.  I went back upstairs and told them to lay down and close their eyes.  More kisses, tucked them in.  About 10 minutes later, Uncle Scotty went up and told them it was time to sleep or he would have to take away one of their stuffed animals.  They quickly laid down, covered up, snuggled with their animals.  Nary a peep after that.

They slept all night and got up wide eyed and bushy tailed.  They were ready to make Mommy's birthday cake.  Played some more and then Mommy came.  They give her hugs and wished her happy birthday.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience - no accidents, happy, slept well and didn't want to leave when Daddy came later.  I think Mommy & Daddy might be able to have more date nights!
