Tuesday SOLSC 4/9/13 - A Celebration in Heaven

I can only imagine!
A celebration 
that will be happening
in Heaven on April 10th!
That's a special day

Seventy years ago on April 10th
My Mom & Dad said their vows
In sickness and health
Through good times and bad
Forever and ever!

I wasn't there on that day, 
but I felt and experienced their love
and dedication to each other
all of my life
until my Mom went to Heaven.

And even after, Dad was still
dedicated to her and missed her
deeply until his passing 14 years later.

I know they will be smiling and laughing
Dancing and hugging
Loving and caring for each other.
They have always been an 
inspiration to me
Sharing their faith and love.
Setting an example that I try to follow.

Happy 70th Anniversary, Mom & Dad!

    So sweet, Judy. And, it's a special day in my family too; it's my mother's birthday. She's been gone several years now, & I miss her very much. Good memories to have, though, right?

SOL 18/31 - The Realtor's Came Yesterday

Yesterday, the realtor's came to look at our house.  Our realtor only brings his own people thru, so it wasn't too bad.  Max slept thru most of it until they went upstairs where he was sleeping.  He barked briefly, came downstairs, got petted and pampered a little.  They walked thru the house, in the bedroom, up the stairs, down the stairs, looked things over, asked a few questions and 15 minutes later out the door they went. Our realtor told me he has had a couple of calls - one from a neighbor (being nosy) and another from a realtor who said this house is exactly what his clients are looking for, but they had just left the day before it was listed.  But could they put in an offer sight unseen?  Really???  Is this just a realtor's ploy to make us feel good or is it real?  No offer yet, but who knows.  It could happen. I breathed a sigh of relief.  Max looked at me as if to say "Is that it?  Can I go back to sleep now?". ...

Tuesday SOL 10/23/12 - Mr. Pockets goes to school

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper that I found fascinating and wanted to share it with you.  This is a story about a dog who listens as children read out loud.  It's a new program in our school district and I'm proud that our district is using this innovative program to help students learn. Animals are so loving, caring and accepting, and the students love to have someone that they can read to and to be loved unconditionally. Tuesday SOL - 1/13/15 - Trying "To Do" Retired

Last week was my "first" week of RETIRED.  Humm.... just what does that mean? I can't say that it felt any different.  We just got back from being out of town for 10 days, so it was catch up time.  Picking up Max, unpacking, doing laundry, cleaning up the dead lady bugs that had accumulated on the floor, grocery shopping, mail...  The list seemed endless - retired???? Then a voice mail saying my aunt was in the hospital in Florida.  Many calls trying to figure out what was happening.  Many more calls checking up on her on a daily basis.  Thinks are improving. Now this week, things are slowing down, but how do I wrap my head around being retired?  How do I stop my brain from making my mental "to do list" of things that HAVE to be accomplished?  How do I decide what I REALLY want to do as opposed to what NEEDS to be done and when?  How do I answer people when they ask "what are you going to do now that you're retired?"
