Memorial Day - A Day of Remembrance and Thanks

American Flags blowing in the breeze, lining the streets of towns
Parades and Memorial Services celebrating our Heroes
Cemeteries adorned with flags and flowers

One day set aside to remind us of how fortunate we are
One day set aside to be thankful for those men and women who died fighting for our country
One day set aside to thank those who have served and are currently serving
One day set aside to enjoy our freedom

A service held before the NASCAR race to honor our Heroes
Bagpipes playing Amazing Grace
A 21 gun salute 
The bugler playing Taps
The Star Spangled Banner sung
The Blue Angels soaring overhead

Remembering those who have passed  
Thankful that God has blessed us 
Praying that God will keep our Heroes safe
Praying that God will comfort those who have lost so much.

    I am so grateful for these heroes. My dad served in WW2... and I am so proud to be his daughter. xo

    this is a lovely reminder of the holiday - it is NOT just the beginning of summer for many of us - it is a day of remembering and reflecting.

    This is beautiful, Judy. As Elsie said, one day certainly doesn't seem like enough to pay our respects to those who sacrificed so much.

SOL 18/31 - The Realtor's Came Yesterday

Yesterday, the realtor's came to look at our house.  Our realtor only brings his own people thru, so it wasn't too bad.  Max slept thru most of it until they went upstairs where he was sleeping.  He barked briefly, came downstairs, got petted and pampered a little.  They walked thru the house, in the bedroom, up the stairs, down the stairs, looked things over, asked a few questions and 15 minutes later out the door they went. Our realtor told me he has had a couple of calls - one from a neighbor (being nosy) and another from a realtor who said this house is exactly what his clients are looking for, but they had just left the day before it was listed.  But could they put in an offer sight unseen?  Really???  Is this just a realtor's ploy to make us feel good or is it real?  No offer yet, but who knows.  It could happen. I breathed a sigh of relief.  Max looked at me as if to say "Is that it?  Can I go back to sleep now?". ...

Tuesday SOL 10/23/12 - Mr. Pockets goes to school

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper that I found fascinating and wanted to share it with you.  This is a story about a dog who listens as children read out loud.  It's a new program in our school district and I'm proud that our district is using this innovative program to help students learn. Animals are so loving, caring and accepting, and the students love to have someone that they can read to and to be loved unconditionally.
