Tuesday SOLSC - 9/17/13 - Remembering a Special Day
This past weekend we celebrated with family and friends as we gathered together to attend our son's wedding. It all began with our drive to Illinois on Thursday to arrive for a home cooked meal and a glass of wine and an early bedtime since the rest of the weekend would be a whirlwind of events.
Mani & Pedi on Friday morning, naptime with M & P, rehearsal and a pig roast completed the day.
Saturday began with me enjoying a delicious breakfast surrounded by five fantastic guys (including the groom and my hubby). Then to meet the girls for hair, makeup and getting dressed. I was the designated driver for M & P since Momma was a bridesmaid and Daddy was a groomsman. To the church we went all ready for the BIG "I Do".
M & P were flower girls and couldn't have been cuter! They walked in just before the bride. We had practiced walking in and out and talked about all the people and where Momma & Daddy would be. At rehearsal, M pranced right down the aisle with P lagging behind (really she was just walking SLOW exactly like we told her). On the Big Day, they started off together and walked slowly, then M looked at all the people and got shy - hiding behind P for a short distance until she spied Uncle Scotty and then it was okay. They stood by the Matron of Honor waiting for Aunt Jen to appear. They gave big hugs and kisses to Aunt Jen & Uncle Scotty and came to sit beside Grandma & Grandpa for the rest of the ceremony. Perfect little angels. They walked out holding hands with Momma & Daddy and were all smiles.
After a beautiful ceremony, pictures were taken at the church and then off to the country club in a limo bus. Once again the designated driver for the girls, I asked them what their favorite part was during the ceremony. P answered, "walking down the aisle". M answered "holding hands and walking out with Mommy & Daddy".
More pictures after which M promptly said, "I'm ready to DANCE!" And so, the reception began. Chatting with family and friends we hadn't seen in years. Introductions and cutting the cake, toasts and scrumptious food.
Then the dancing began. Jen with her uncle and then Scott with me - towards the end of the song, M & P came running out on the dance floor, grabbed a hold of Scott and my legs to finish the dance with us. A special moment.
The girls danced to their hearts delight until they couldn't keep their eyes open any longer and fell asleep in our arms. Everyone attending enjoyed the evening. The Big Day was picture perfect in every way. Weather was beautiful, everyone in the wedding party was gorgeous, food was delicious and our family and friends were there to help celebrate.
We are truly blessed and we thank God for the beautiful day and pray that He will watch over Scott and Jen as they grow in their relationship as husband and wife.

Judy, Michelle shared some pictures just yesterday and the girls were beyond precious in their dresses. Jen looked beautiful and may I say so did you! Your dress was gorgeous! A wonderful day for the start of their new life together! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I wish love and happiness for the newlyweds.
ReplyDeleteSo glad all the illnesses were behind everyone and you could have a lovely day. Your words brought back the joy I had at my son's wedding. It sounds like it was an action packed weekend but so fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful day, and now memory, Judy. It's great that the girls were just fine. Sometimes you never know. We were at one wedding where the little ring bearer stayed up at the front, and kept waving at everyone he knew. Hilarious. So glad you had such a perfect time. Best wishes to the newlyweds!
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect day -- and you know me, I have high expectations! It was a gorgeous wedding with impeccable planning. The weather was perfect. Scott and Jen surrounded by family and friends that love them.
ReplyDeleteAs we looked at pictures today, M said in her little voice, "I love my Aunt Jen and Uncle Scotty." We all love them and look forward to what the future holds for them.
It was a whirlwind and we are still catching up on sleep here! :)
Congratulations to Scott & Jen and everyone involved! The wedding went perfectly and the pictures I saw were lovely. It will be fun to look back and have these memories. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day you are sharing with us. Glad the girls felt better and everyone got to have fun!
