Tuesday SOLSC - 12/10/13 - Winter Has Arrived With a Vengence


Predictions of
Freezing rain
Sleet
Ice
Snow
Be prepared
Stay inside
It's coming!

Schools cancelled
Businesses closed
Warnings to stay home
Praying the power will stay on

And it came
The freezing rain & sleet one day
Snow the next
Finally it stopped
But not until there was 3" of ice
topped with 8" of snow
Followed by bone chilling temperatures

More cancellations, more warnings
But the power stayed on and we were
safe inside with a nice warm fire to
keep us warm.

Day 5 still cooped up in the house,
maybe tomorrow.....

    3 inches of ice and 8 inches of snow?!?! Oh my goodness. Hoping you are safe and warm inside. Those pictures are beautiful!

    Holy cow! What an experience! We didn't have the ice and snow in Colorado, but we have had the bone chilling temperatures. After four days of sub zero weather and indoor recess, I'd love a day at home reading and baking cookies!!

    It looks so cozy...I love the feeling of everything stopping and all the waiting, but around Christmas...totally is hard. I would be reading away, for sure! xo

    Although it is beautiful, we are on our third snow day already! We had over 13 inches and last night got two more! Ugh! Hope you get out soon!

    I am thankful that we only had half inch of ice. What a relief that the power stayed on! The snow is beautiful, but I sure wish it had waited until school was out. I hope this is not a taste of what is to come!

    Your home is so pretty, Judy & I'm very happy to hear you kept your electricity. I grew up in Missouri and have terrible memories of that ice. We have almost none of that here in Colorado, too dry, but we had the cold, & some did lose their electricity. What a storm that has been all across the nation! Thanks for the pics!

    The pictures are amazing, but don't do it justice, I'm sure! So glad you all are safe and sound. Hope you get out soon enough! We never got the ice, but 4 inches of snow and more to come this week. The freezing cold is what is getting to us! Brrr!!! Stay warm and snuggle up!

SOL 18/31 - The Realtor's Came Yesterday

Yesterday, the realtor's came to look at our house.  Our realtor only brings his own people thru, so it wasn't too bad.  Max slept thru most of it until they went upstairs where he was sleeping.  He barked briefly, came downstairs, got petted and pampered a little.  They walked thru the house, in the bedroom, up the stairs, down the stairs, looked things over, asked a few questions and 15 minutes later out the door they went. Our realtor told me he has had a couple of calls - one from a neighbor (being nosy) and another from a realtor who said this house is exactly what his clients are looking for, but they had just left the day before it was listed.  But could they put in an offer sight unseen?  Really???  Is this just a realtor's ploy to make us feel good or is it real?  No offer yet, but who knows.  It could happen. Tuesday SOL 10/23/12 - Mr. Pockets goes to school

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper that I found fascinating and wanted to share it with you.  This is a story about a dog who listens as children read out loud.  It's a new program in our school district and I'm proud that our district is using this innovative program to help students learn. Animals are so loving, caring and accepting, and the students love to have someone that they can read to and to be loved unconditionally. Tuesday SOL - 9/25/12 - A New Beginning for a Special Couple

Several weeks ago we were invited to a wedding for two very dear friends.  What a special occasion it was!  This is the second marriage for both of them and they are in their early 70's.  But, before telling you about the wedding, you need to know "the rest of the story". Jeannie's husband died about 10 years ago from heart related problems.  Several years after his death, she was involved in a terrible automobile accident and was never expected to walk again.  But through sheer determination (and the help of God) she walks without the aid of crutches.  At this point she really didn't have God in her life and I'm not sure at what point she found God (or more than likely, God found her).  She always asked God to find her that special man who had faith, was kind, had a great sense of humor and who loved her.
