SOL 8/11/15 - Thoughts on our "old" home

As we continue to settle into our "new" home, my thoughts have been going back to our loghome.  With each picture that we hang, with each piece of furniture that we place, with each accent piece that I pull out, I think about why we bought it, where we hung it and the memories that we created.

I wonder if the new owners will love "our" loghome as much as we did.  Will they understand the love and sweat that we put into each log that was laid, each board on the floor that we placed, the choice of cabinets, etc.?  The list is endless and yet I don't think they will understand. 

Last week Hubby went to take some packing containers back to our "old" neighbors.  He said the house looked forlorn and sad.  The new owners had yet to move in.  We wondered if they had the electric on - if not, what would happen to all that wood with the heat and humidity we've been experiencing.  We wondered if they planned to move in.  We wondered if they "cared".  It's one of those things that we can't worry about.  The papers have been signed, we no longer have any connection to the house, except for our memories.

We are hoping and praying that the new owners will love it and care for it as we did.  For now, we can relish in our memories and make new ones here in our "new" home.

    When we drive out to Pottsville and go by the house we left 26 years ago, we have similar thoughts. However, knowing that the people who bought out house still live there and seeing how they have improved the appearance of the house we just smile and wish them many more happy years there.

    That is the hard part ... but we don't know their story. We don't know if something else happened in their life to delay the move. We just don't know what will happen with your "old" home. I know it's hard to see in such a state of disarray. But in time that house will become someone else's home. Focus on your new home and new memories.

    Heartstrings tug when we see what was once "ours" not being cared for in the way we did. I simply shake my head and let the memories be what I see, rather than what my eyes see.

SOL 18/31 - The Realtor's Came Yesterday

Yesterday, the realtor's came to look at our house.  Our realtor only brings his own people thru, so it wasn't too bad.  Max slept thru most of it until they went upstairs where he was sleeping.  He barked briefly, came downstairs, got petted and pampered a little.  They walked thru the house, in the bedroom, up the stairs, down the stairs, looked things over, asked a few questions and 15 minutes later out the door they went. Our realtor told me he has had a couple of calls - one from a neighbor (being nosy) and another from a realtor who said this house is exactly what his clients are looking for, but they had just left the day before it was listed.  But could they put in an offer sight unseen?  Really???  Is this just a realtor's ploy to make us feel good or is it real?  No offer yet, but who knows.  It could happen. Tuesday SOL 10/23/12 - Mr. Pockets goes to school

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper that I found fascinating and wanted to share it with you.  This is a story about a dog who listens as children read out loud.  It's a new program in our school district and I'm proud that our district is using this innovative program to help students learn. Animals are so loving, caring and accepting, and the students love to have someone that they can read to and to be loved unconditionally.
