Tuesday SOL 1/12/16 - Play Date

When we were with our kids at Thanksgiving, my daughter-in-law had a table topper for Christmas and commented that it was just right size and that she would like some for different seasons.  Could you make them? she asked.  It was from the Dresden Plate quilt pattern and so I was pretty sure I could handle it.  So before Christmas I checked out different websites, got a similar pattern and tried my hand at it.  It wasn't perfect, but doable.  But I knew someone who could help make it better.  I have quilted some, but only enough to say that I have done it.

I have a friend who is a quilter and loves challenges.  She was more than happy to help.  So today is our play date.  I've got the fabric and a pattern and we'll see what kind of mischief we can get into.

    Years ago Kathy made a Dresden Plate quilt for her mom in blues and pinks. It is a lovely pattern. Good luck with your project.

    Have a great quilting play date. That sounds like LOTS of fun! (Once upon a time, I was featured in a quilting book when I was away at summer camp. SOL 18/31 - The Realtor's Came Yesterday

Yesterday, the realtor's came to look at our house.  Our realtor only brings his own people thru, so it wasn't too bad.  Max slept thru most of it until they went upstairs where he was sleeping.  He barked briefly, came downstairs, got petted and pampered a little.  They walked thru the house, in the bedroom, up the stairs, down the stairs, looked things over, asked a few questions and 15 minutes later out the door they went. Our realtor told me he has had a couple of calls - one from a neighbor (being nosy) and another from a realtor who said this house is exactly what his clients are looking for, but they had just left the day before it was listed.  But could they put in an offer sight unseen?  Really???  Is this just a realtor's ploy to make us feel good or is it real?  No offer yet, but who knows.  It could happen. Tuesday SOL 10/23/12 - Mr. Pockets goes to school

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper that I found fascinating and wanted to share it with you.  This is a story about a dog who listens as children read out loud.  It's a new program in our school district and I'm proud that our district is using this innovative program to help students learn. Animals are so loving, caring and accepting, and the students love to have someone that they can read to and to be loved unconditionally.
