SOL 8/31 - Going to the Dentist

That dreaded six month check up
Off to the Dentist I did go
8:00 a.m. (why did I make it so early?)
Sit in the chair, Recline
Lay back, relax ?, chat ?
Open mouth - a little wider
Light in my eyes (mouth)
First this tool to prod
Then this tool to scrap
Then another to push
Rinse
And on the cleaning goes
Hmm, this tooth we've had a watch on
Doc will need to check it out
Polish
Here's Doc
Some more prodding and pushing
Some more Hmm's
We'll need to do a crown here
Put a watch on this one
That's it
Schedule your appointment
Have a nice day!

Oh yeah, pay your bill for all this "fun"!

    I love the "chat" part Judy! It always amazes me when the hygienist and doc want to have conversations with you!

    It's not the prodding and pushing but the bill that makes one say "ouch!" Sounds like it was almost a good check-up, except for that crown part. That one hurts the wallet even more.

    While a visit to the dentist is not really as bad as I imagine it will be each time, it was generally worse than I imagined it would be when I was a child. Childhood memories are hard to erase - and there are no treats after the visit now!

    I hate the dentist, but I always schedule it early so I don't have to miss the rest of the day!

    You've described a visit to the dentist exactly how it always goes including all the extra Hmmms and Ahhhhs. Sorry to hear about the crown.

    Oh the dentist! As I get older I have less and less tolerance for them digging around in my mouth! I just had to chuckle as I read your post. Good luck with the crown.

SOL 18/31 - The Realtor's Came Yesterday

Yesterday, the realtor's came to look at our house.  Our realtor only brings his own people thru, so it wasn't too bad.  Max slept thru most of it until they went upstairs where he was sleeping.  He barked briefly, came downstairs, got petted and pampered a little.  They walked thru the house, in the bedroom, up the stairs, down the stairs, looked things over, asked a few questions and 15 minutes later out the door they went. Our realtor told me he has had a couple of calls - one from a neighbor (being nosy) and another from a realtor who said this house is exactly what his clients are looking for, but they had just left the day before it was listed.  But could they put in an offer sight unseen?  Really???  Is this just a realtor's ploy to make us feel good or is it real?  No offer yet, but who knows.  It could happen. Tuesday SOL 10/23/12 - Mr. Pockets goes to school

Last week there was an article in our local newspaper that I found fascinating and wanted to share it with you.  This is a story about a dog who listens as children read out loud.  It's a new program in our school district and I'm proud that our district is using this innovative program to help students learn. Animals are so loving, caring and accepting, and the students love to have someone that they can read to and to be loved unconditionally. Tuesday SOL - 1/13/15 - Trying "To Do" Retired

Last week was my "first" week of RETIRED.  Humm.... just what does that mean? I can't say that it felt any different.  We just got back from being out of town for 10 days, so it was catch up time.  Picking up Max, unpacking, doing laundry, cleaning up the dead lady bugs that had accumulated on the floor, grocery shopping, mail...  The list seemed endless - retired???? Then a voice mail saying my aunt was in the hospital in Florida.  Many calls trying to figure out what was happening.  Many more calls checking up on her on a daily basis.  Thinks are improving. Now this week, things are slowing down, but how do I wrap my head around being retired?  How do I stop my brain from making my mental "to do list" of things that HAVE to be accomplished?  How do I decide what I REALLY want to do as opposed to what NEEDS to be done and when?  How do I answer people when they ask "what are you going to do now that you're retired?"
