Tuesday SOL 5/17/16 - Home Again
We came home last Tuesday, but too tired to write. We had lots of excitement, exercise?, celebrations and some frustrations added in.
Sunday, May 1st, we celebrated our granddaughters 6th birthday - excitement and celebrations - cake and presents (and a late night visit to the ER for Daddy & M - another ear infection).
Monday, Michelle & hubby signed all the papers for their new home. Packing up the kitchen for me - box after box (and Michelle doesn't like to cook!). We got to spend some time at the new house and celebrate with pizza, A new journey has begun for them.
Tuesday & Wednesday, Michelle & hubby off to work, girls to school, us to the new house to wait for the AT&T and Comcast guys and electrician. Cleaning cabinets, tearing out contact paper (whoever created it should be shot!), Hubby building a pantry into the current closet - mission accomplished.
Thursday - girls off of school. Played and packed with them. They do a great job wrapping and putting things in boxes. They had fun packing up their room. Books in a box, pillows in a garbage bag, clothes hung in Grandpa's truck, knick knacks packed, boxes marked (they wrote on the boxes and drew pictures so the movers would know exactly where they would go). Then off to the new house with kitchen boxes and some of their things. Painter was there painting their room (two shades of pink - bright - beautiful). Emptied kitchen boxes, put things in cabinets (according to my logical order).
Friday more of the same - more packing - more up and down stairs. (Are you tired from reading this?)
Saturday - THE BIG MOVE! Packed the rest of the kitchen and went to the new house. Put away what we brought and waited.
Ten hours later the move was complete, the beds were made, the kitchen was in order, furniture was in place. Hubby, Scott & Jen kept the girls for the day and made a delicious dinner for us.
Sunday we continued to help unpack, had a walk to the park with Michelle & girls and Scott fixed me a delicious Mother's Day dinner.
Monday continued with more unpacking, moving furniture, rearranging cabinets. A more leisurely day with Michelle.
Home on Tuesday - needless to say this past week wasn't a very productive week around here. I think that I'm finally recovered from using muscles that I haven't used in a long time (maybe ever). We were happy to help, but very happy to be back in our one level home.

Whew! But great that you could help, and be there in this new beginning for the family. Moving is stressful, and filled with lots of steps, bending, lifting, and deciding where to put where! (I agree about the contact paper-ugh!)
ReplyDeleteSome weeks are just that way. I hope you take some time to relax as you settle into your new home.
ReplyDeleteWow! You've been busy! No wonder you haven't written. We're all glad your back, though!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great help you were to Michelle! Moving is so hard, I shudder to think about it for us (fortunately it is not on the horizon). Glad it all worked out and you are home to rest.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya Judy! Just got back a couple of weeks ago from California for another move ;-)! So glad Michelle and family is all settled in the new house! I'm sure she really appreciated all the help! Rest up now!
ReplyDeleteI was exhausted just reading this, Judy. Moving is exciting and there is always so much to do. Having someone else cook a meal is always a plus.
