Tuesday SOL 6/27/17 - The Last Piece of the Puzzle is finally coming together
Almost two years ago, we moved into our new house. We have been working at making it "our home" and have added wood to several walls, a new sliding glass door, new wall of cabinets, a fire place insert and now we are having our front enclosed porch converted to an all season room.

We have been waiting for the construction crew to begin since the middle of April, but apparently
their time frame and ours hasn't always coincided. But last Thursday the crew of ONE appeared to dismantle the existing frame work of clear vinyl windows and screens.
He looked, removed some screws, scratched his head and said he never seen anything like it. This didn't give us much confidence, but he persevered and finally got the first piece out. Hubby and I watched, looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders and said a prayer. Mid afternoon another guy showed up to help. Demo was completed by the end of day. They packed up their stuff and said "we'll be back tomorrow". The drive and porch were filled with the remnants of the demolition.
Friday morning arrived, again the crew of ONE arrived to begin the building of the wall to house the new windows and door. Another worker showed up a half hour later. And the work began in earnest. In the afternoon, a storm was brewing and moving in fast. They frantically picked up tools and pondered if they should stay or leave. Soon the "boss" arrived and needless to say, they continued working and completed all of the framing. The "boss" asked if they could work on Saturday to get it enclosed. We agreed wholeheartedly!
By noon on Saturday, the windows were in place and all the debris was picked up and they left. Boss says they wouldn't be here on Monday, and wasn't sure when they would return. WHAT???
We leave on vacation on Friday. When will the door be installed? Monday arrived and the Head Honcho arrived to take inventory of what was needed to complete the outside. Yes, the door would be installed on Tuesday and all the outside work would be completed. The electricians came by to see what they need to do and will be here this morning. It won't be ALL complete, but the major stuff will be done before we leave.
We are so excited to have the work started and to see a semblance of the completed project. More pics when it's finished. But for now, we filled with JOY.

Oh what a beautiful room it will be! I am quite envious. We have long porches, and I love spending time on them. But an enclosed one would be wonderful! Have a wonderful vacation!
ReplyDeleteWell, at least it's coming together! It looks beautiful and the "shell" is complete. People seems to work on a different schedule there, just continue to be patient and pray they return, even if it is only a crew of ONE! ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad things are under way and things will be in pretty good shape by the time you leave for vacation. I know you will enjoy your new all season room. One of our goals in the near future is to enclose part of our back patio and make it a three season room. Hopefully it will happen.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know just how you feel...
