This was an eye opening book - things happening to children that no one could imagine. Parents selling their children, prostitution, begging, starving, etc. The caste system in India seems unbelievable in this day and age. In India, the goal for each person in the lowest caste is to just survive - a bit a food here, a penny for doing the worst thinkable job. How can the upper castes not understand? How can they continue to ignore what is happening? Why don't they care? It's their upbringing - it's been instilled in their minds that they are the only ones who count.
The Gospel for Asia was developed to help the lower castes - especially the children - to make them aware that they are special and deserve as much as anyone else. GFA has built facilities to house, feed and teach these children, not only the basics, but about God and his love for everyone.
As I said, it was eye-opening and the idea behind the book is to reach out to the reader to help - financially and in prayer - this mission. While I understand their needs, I keep thinking about the children in the US who are in just as much need. There are children here who are in the same situations - where is the church, where is our government, where are the missionaries? After much thought about the book and mission, I decided that I would prefer to help those children here in the States. Why is it that all the movie stars and athletes support those underdeveloped nations? Do they not look in their own backyards? When do we start taking care of our own?

I haven't yet read this book as I'm consumed by many, many others. I'm in agreement with you: we have so many children right here in our own country that need our prayers and support.
